In 1988, a Danish-American couple set out in a sailboat to find a place to start a family, plant a vineyard, and make wine... and thus begins our story of Cortes de Cima Family Vineyards, one of Portugal's leading wineries. Located in Vidigueira, Alentejo, Cortes de Cima, is still a family run vineyard and winery under the daily supervision of Hans and Carrie Jorgensen, with 140 ha of mainly Aragonez, Syrah, Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Petit Verdot, Antão Vaz and Verdelho. Back in 1991, Syrah was not permitted on the regional regulations, but Hans planted it anyway, convinced that he had an ideal climate and soil conditions for that famous Rhone variety, the first ‘illegal' vintage of Syrah in 1998, was bottled as Incógnito, and quickly earned accolades and notoriety in Portugal, and Medals in London, Brussels and Bordeaux.

16, 5 pts Revista de Vinhos - A barrel aged blend of local and international varieties grown on our cool Atlantic coastal vineyards and in the warmer Alentejan interior. The wine shows an elegant palate, with delicate citric floral notes. A gastronomic wine, with rich fruit flavors and a good acidity.
