Domaine Ostertag Riesling Clos Mathis 2017

Beautiful perfume of stone fruit, stone fruit nectar, sweet flowers, faint wet stone. It's an attractive, heady fragrance. In the palate, slippery, sleek, slides around the mouth and finishes in a reasonably lush kind of way. That being said, there's a lovely undercurrent of clean acidity which neatly matches the slip of runny-honeyed character that defines the wine.

I don't know if there are problems with the 2013 vintage, but I thought the colour was a straw-yellow. It smells of lemon and apple.Good flavour and long aftertaste.
Yummy with a sea food, as you say on this website.
I drank it with my brothers and a friend of mine.

This little Clos is owned by Hubert Mathis, Ostertag vineyard manager. The grapes are manually ge-harvest and get the first selection already in the vineyard (so picking is done by experienced pickers). The whole clusters are soft, without destemming or crushing pressed pneumatically. The wine is fermented in stainless steel with controlled temperature and comes with 12 months aging on its own lees at low temperature. Riesling Clos Mathis has intense flavor with herbs, slightly calcareous and minerally. The Mathis is pure, precise and elegant and has a full, rich and powerful taste. The Ostertag Mathis is concentrated, well structured and perfectly dry with a long finish. This is a great at in fish, fruits du mer and white meats but also a real meditation wine.
