TASTING NOTES:

It is made from pure Nebbiolo grapes, harvested and hand selected only. As vineyards live in a living ecosystem and varied soils are processed with controlled ripening techniques, without the use of chemical fertilizers and herbicides, but only of organic substances.

THE WINE Barolo 'Vigna la Rosa' Fontanafredda born in vineyards situated in the Langhe hills, in the heart of Piedmont. It is obtained from Nebbiolo grapes, picked and selected only by hand. The wine is aged for 24 months in barrels and another 18 months in bottle. Perfect in combination with red meat dishes and medium or mature cheeses, perfect as a sipping wine. THE COMPANY Historical winery nestled in the charming hills of the Langhe, Fontanafredda comes from the estates of Roggeri James in Serralunga d'Alba, then enrolled in the private wealth of Vittorio Emanuele II, King of Sardinia, in 1858. It was, however Emanuele Guerrieri Count of Mirafiore, son of the king, to start the business, twenty years later, in 1878, thanks to his strong passion, initiative and foresight. Today Fontanafredda has about 122 hectares, of which 84 are vineyards and subdivided among the most prestigious towns in the area of ​​Barolo Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo and Diano d'Alba. The estate is also formed by the historical cellars, the Villa Reale and a large nature reserve. Today Fontanafredda belongs to the association Wine Free, a group of 12 wine producers and one distillery, united by the desire to develop sustainable agriculture type, in combination with a continuous process of research aimed at the preservation of nature and the minimal intervention in the vineyard and in the cellar: last but not least are the experiments of Fontanafredda aimed at limiting the use of sulfur dioxide.
