 The Benedictine monks of Affligem brassèrent their beer for almost a thousand years. After the Second World War and the dismantling of the brewery by the Germans, the monks nevertheless content to brew a beer reserved for their own consumption. They then entrusted the commercial production of gender specialists: Brewery De Smedt Opwijk, not far away. Like most of the abbey beers Affligem is available in several variants.
