 Alken-Maes brewery was crééen 1988 by the merger of two small breweries, Maes, situéà Waarloos and Alken. All Both had specialized in pils (produced Maes Maes pils and Alken Cristal pils) until Maes bought in 1978, the brewery unions (based in Jumet) produces The Grimbergen beer among others. After the merger, the group CONTINUEA buy other breweries to increase their offer more beers. In 1989, the new brewery acheté50% of the brewery De Keersmaeker, who specializes in spontaneous fermented beers such as Sudden Death. In 2000, he and achetéCiney Brugs Witbier and the other 50% of De Keersmaeker. The same year, the brewery was bought by the British and the Scottish company's Newcast. Alken-Maes is now number two on The marchébelge. The blonde has a Ciney blond copper color and is topped with an airy and persistent foam. Soft and round on the palate, this special beer grading 7. disclaims subtle malty, slightly spicy notes.
