The Heineken H41 is based on a newly discovered mother yeast from Patagonia and is the world's first beer with this ingredient. The H in the name, of course, stands for the producing brand Heineken, while the number 41 stands for the geographical spot where the yeast was found. A beech forest in Patagonia, 41º in the South, 71º in the West. Willem van Waesberghe is the master brewer who played around with this new variety in order to create a rounder and fuller lager beer with bottom fermentation.
