Mikkeller

Math and physics teacher in denmark during by day, beer-enthusiast by night. That was Mikkel Borg Bjergso before he had the idea of brewing beer himself. He didn't have to wait long for success. Inspired by the American craft beer hype he and his friend, Kristian Keller, studied several books on that topic and soon developped their own recipes. In 2005, his brother opened a beer shop. That was Mikkel's possibility to sell and distribute his own brewings. The big break-through followed soon after. Today Mikkel exports his beer to 40 countries. But as he lacks of an own brewery, he approaches the famous Proef Brouwerij in Belgium for brewing his recipes.

The name of the Beat You I Mikkeller beer evokes the beginnings of a fight. And what a fight! ! The Indian Pale Ale (IPA) is brewed with more hops (6 in total): the new German hops Herkules expressing its powerful bitterness and its resinous aromas of pine and American hops Amarillo, Centennial, Warrior, Simcoe and Columbus. This amber beer has a gentle sparkle and wrapped body just right. Hop aromas are present bels and well through the use of hops 6 and bring this strong bitter and herbaceous side also. But other flavors emerge in this amalgam namely notes of citrus (grapefruit, orange, lemon) and caramel malt. In the mouth, the bitter final sensation lasts very long, but before the humées flavors are found. The goal of a hop bomb desired by the two brewers is successful. It is a hop product to perfection but is against-balanced, just right, with alcohol and a little sweetness. Brewed in collaboration with the Scottish Brewdog Brewery, beer lovers can only welcome the work done to produce this Mikkeller I Beat You.
