Mikkeller

Math and physics teacher in denmark during by day, beer-enthusiast by night. That was Mikkel Borg Bjergso before he had the idea of brewing beer himself. He didn't have to wait long for success. Inspired by the American craft beer hype he and his friend, Kristian Keller, studied several books on that topic and soon developped their own recipes. In 2005, his brother opened a beer shop. That was Mikkel's possibility to sell and distribute his own brewings. The big break-through followed soon after. Today Mikkel exports his beer to 40 countries. But as he lacks of an own brewery, he approaches the famous Proef Brouwerij in Belgium for brewing his recipes.

Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proef, this beautiful beer is characterized by several rare features. Indeed, the latter has made a good base but relatively conventional (Hallertau and Styrian by hopping) but is then fermented from high Brettanomyces then 7 months in white wine barrels. Experimental methods for an exceptional result! The beautiful dark amber color of this Danish beer is topped by a small but persistent white foam. The nose disconcerting as it is complex: Caramelized, slightly hoppy, we will also find the forested and notes so characteristic of Brett. The palate is perfectly balanced between malty sweetness and fine acidity. The flavors of Brett and grape are perfectly visible, leading us to a dry finish. This incredible It's Alive comes undoubtedly from the family of great Mikkeller beers. It can be very interesting as compare to Mikkeller It's Alive Lychee Edition!
