Origins of Stout beer
The origin of this type of beer dates back to the middle of the 18th century. At that time, brewer Ralph Hardwood had the idea of creating a beer that would combine old beer, copper beer and young beer. This is how Porter beer was born. Years later, to adapt to the tastes of consumers, it became darker and with a stronger flavour, happening to be finally called Stout.

Types of Stout
Although this beer is originally British, over the years different versions of it have appeared in other countries.
American Stout: it is the American version of Stout. It does not change much compared to the original beer, it simply has a higher amount of hops.
Oatmeal Stout: a type of Stout that is barely commercialized, although it can still be found in some areas of the United States and Great Britain. It is made with up to 30% oats.
Imperial Stout: A very special variety of Stout beer that is no longer marketed. It was elaborated in its beginning by Thrale Brewery for the court of the empress Catherine II of Russia. It is characterized by its high alcohol content, around 10%.
