Every drop of Absolut Vodka from The Absolut Company come from a single site: the small town of Åhus in southern Sweden. With its 10,000 inhabitants, it is hardly large enough to appear on a world atlas, yet, its distilled vodka is well-known throughout the world.
They are two essential ingredients in Absolut Vodka that can explain its tremendous success and first-rate quality. The locally-grown winter wheat and the crystalline water from Scania deepest wells. They provide the Absolut Company with the raw material necessary to produce millions of bottles of Absolut Vodka. Centuries of experience have shown that winter wheat produces a superior vodka and every bottle of Absolut Vodka contains more than 1kg (2 pounds) of grain.
The forerunner of today's Absolut Vodka, "Absolut Rent Bränvin" (Absolute Pure Vodka in Swedish), was launched in 1879 by the legendary Swedish entrepreneur Lars Olsson Smith, also known as the "Vodka King". Actually, the medallion in each bottle bears his portrait.
The Absolut Company uses the process of continuous distillation, introduced in Sweden by the Lars Olsson Smith and perfected it to this day, which guarantees a perfect vodka. The flavours of Absolut Vodka are made by mixing vodka with only natural flavours. No sugar is added.
