Built on a rise that lies close to the Gironde estuary, the château lies at the centre of a vineyard of one piece, covering 123 acres. In the 17 th century the property belonged to monks who were the first to plant vines at Meyney. Here the soil is composed of layers of stones and gravel that drain extremely well, providing perfect conditions for cabernet sauvignon, associated with merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot. This combination produces a full-bodied wine that has both flesh and bones, and which develops with time the unique charm of the best from Saint-Estephe.

Since the acquisition of Château Meyney in 2004 by CA Grands Crus, an improvement plan has been put in place for the entire estate. This is supervised by Anne Le Naour, the technical director, and abetted by advice from the consultant oenologist, Denis Dubourdieu.

The company CA GRANDS CRUS, a fully owned subsidiary of the Groupe Crédit Agricole, became, in 2004, the owner of four prestigious Bordeaux estates: Château de Rayne Vigneau, 1 er Grand Cru Classé Sauternes, Château Grand-Puy Ducasse, 5 ème Grand Cru Classé Pauillac, Château Meyney, Saint-Estèphe, Château Blaignan, Cru Bourgeois Médoc.
