Kaiken is an Argentinean company that offers a wide range of white, red, and sparkling wines from the heart of the Mendoza region. With high-quality vineyards in different terroirs, the brand is able to grow the necessary grapes to produce its wines. Standout members of the portfolio include the Kaiken Mai, Kaiken Obertura, and the Terroir Series.

History

A caiquén is a wild goose that is native to Patagonia, which flies across the Andes mountains during its yearly migration. This difficult journey inspired the founder of Kaiken, Aurelio Montes. He founded the Chilean winery Bodega Montes back in 1987. Like the cauquén, he had to travel across the Andes from Chile to the fertile Argentinean lands of Mendoza. In 2001, when he discovered the great wines that could be produced from this land, Kaiken wines was born. The winery that now is the proud home of Kaiken wines was built in Vistalba, Mendoza in 1920.

Product Range

Kaiken offers an impressive range of white, red, and sparkling wines in different styles and series. The two standalone red wines are:
  • Kaiken Mai: This 100% Malbec wine is aged for 18 months in French oak and 12 months in the bottle. The result is a silky and elegant wine with a full body.
  • Kaiken Obertura: A 100% Cabernet Franc wine that is aged for 12 months in French oak. This vibrant, ruby-red wine has excellent ageing potential.
  • There are three series of wines on offer, each with different bottlings available:
  • Kaiken Ultra: This range of wines, available in Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay, are known for their complexity, character, and elegance.
  • Kaiken Terroir Series: The three wines that make up this group aim to show Argentina’s heritage in terms of grapes. That meant choosing the best terroir for each variety. The three wines in this series are the Malbec (with Bonarda and Petit Verdot), the Cabernet Sauvignon (with Malbec and Petit Verdot), and the Torrontés.
  • Kaiken Estate Series: Available in Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc-Semillón, and Malbec Rosé releases, this line offers the freshness and full personality of the Mendoza terroir.
  • In sparkling wines, the company offers Kaiken Brut and Kaiken Brut Rosé, both made with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes.
