M. Chapoutier The house today has the largest wine Hermitage property with 34 hectares of the 115 hectares of the appellation. The adoption of biodynamic farming in all cultures, uniting tradition with innovation, with the exceptional quality of its wines, have turned this house in the framework of one of the historic names of France.
From its origins in 1808, several generations have been formed one of the most beautiful wine houses Rhône Valley. Over the years their properties have been expanding and diversifying in the heart of the best land designations of origin Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Banyuls, Coteaux d'Aix, and Tricastin.
In addition to the land it owns, currently 160 acres, the house M. Chapoutier wine and sometimes plays the viticulture wine appellations of origin Cornas, Gigondas, Beaumes Muscat-de-Venise, Muscat de Rivesaltes, Côtes -du-Rhône, Rasteau, Côtes-du-Rhône Villages, Tavel, Cotes du Ventoux and Vins de Pays d'Oc.
Michel Chapoutier, chaired since 1990 destinations in this house forever family and independent character, combines the boldness and determination, while perpetual faith in the authenticity of the land. Buying vineyards in the "new world" and the dramatic increase in the performance of the company are a good witness.
But the essence of the revolution launched by Michel, you have opted for biodynamic farming, thereby initiating a radical change in how to address the growing vines. Its objective is to implement an agriculture of the century, allowing free expression of the terroir, respecting their natural cycles and balances and considering it as a source of life, whose wealth must be preserved. The entire house vineyards are cultivated M. Chapoutier Biodynamic today, resulting in three basic aspects:
I. The land. Treated with great respect, without the addition of chemical fertilizers, produces very low yields, aided by a severe pruning old vines and a selection of masses.
II. The biotype. Care without use of pesticides or herbicides.
III. The identity of the wine of payment.Traditional winemaking methods, indigenous yeasts and no fermentation at low temperature.
Its innovative and generous nature have led Michel to take creative initiatives in other fields. The labels of their wines have been overprinted in braille. This spirit of respect for life and the soil, combined with the audacity to adopt solutions that will improve the world in which we live, make this home a gem in the world of viticulture.
