Rubbens is a Belgian distillery in East Flanders which produces jenever since the beginning of the 19th century.
A little bit of history
The Rubbens distillery has been founded in 1817 in Zele. Initially, it was a farm, but its owners quickly started to distill jenever from grain and malt. This link between alcohol production and agriculture was revived in 2008 when the Rubbens family sold the Rubbens distillery to Dirk Beck, farmer in Sint-Gillis-Waas. In order to have more capacity, the distillery moves to Wichelen in an existing, but much larger facility. Dirk Beck's goal was to combine alcohol exploitation with agriculture: the grains produced by the farm could be used by the distillery for the production of alcohol.
Their genevers are made according to ancient methods. They contain only natural products and rest in oak barrels. Renowned for their sweetness and aromatic finesse, they are pleasant to drink fresh and pure. Their spicy notes are perfect for making long drinks.
