VINEYARD: The grapes used in this wine are from Favaios, Douro, Portugal. This area is famous for its hot, dry summers and its cold winters. All three varieties of grapes used in this wine are also known to grow well in the Douro region.

GRAPES: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional

AGEING: 2016 Casa Velha is aged in French oak barrels for one year. While it is not bottle-aged by the winery, customers can bottle-age it themselves for up to several years.

PREPARATION: The grapes used in this wine undergo fermentation in two parts. Firstly, it is fermented in mills. Next, it is fermented in stainless steel tanks. It is then aged in French oak barrels for twelve months. The wine is then filtered before being bottled.

I would suggest that you serve it with a good potatoes stew. I tried it on a tasting course.
This wine is of a very attractive cherry colour. Aromas of black currant. Not a singularity to highlight, the wine was fine.
