2018 Niepoort Redoma (Arinto, Rabigato and Viosinho)

TASTING NOTES:

  • View: Pale yellow with amber hues.
  • Nose: aromatic notes of toasted wood, mineral notes, salt and smoky, with hints of candied fruit, orange blossom and citrus fruits, orange highlights.
  • Mouth: fresh, fruity, with a slightly heavy flavor to the palate density, features the well balanced citrus flavor, a saline mineral and prolonged end.

APPELLATION: Douro.

VINEYARD: Niepoort.

GRAPES: Rabigato, Codega, Viosinho, Donzelinho, Dorint.

AGEING: This wine is aged for 8 months in French oak barrels.

PREPARATION: The mixture of grapes pressed gently with the method of bleeding, then the wort is left to macerate for a period of 24 hours. Then the juice is fermented in French oak barrels for 8 months without movement method and its fine lees. Finally it stabilized and bottled without filtering.

PAIRING: White meat, lamb, cold cuts, pork chops, sausages, sausages, seafood, lobster, Asian food, paellas, risottos, pastas, carpaccio, fresh salads, appetizers.

Niepoort Redoma 2018

94 pts Robert Parker - Intense aroma, with complex fruit notes of lemon, orange and apricot, more rich than in previous editions is also showing strong wet stone character contributing for the persistent mineral character. The palate is very firm, with great complexity and freshness thanks to the higher content of malic acid. The fruit character combines with the white flowers notes, and the almond and nuts aromas. Redoma 2011 is very intense and persistent in the palate, with great ageing potential.

A golden brown white wine of Niepoort. Clear aroma of grapefruit, lime and lemon. The Douro tasted like wild berries.
A good white to finish the meal.
My friends liked the Redoma Niepoort.

A good Niepoort who goes well with beef stew. I gave it to my parents and we tried it together.
Red towards reddish brown hints. Strong scents of coffee and toffee. This red has good body.

- View: deep red and conentrado.
- Nose: aromas of red fruits and balsamic notes of plum and pink.
- Mouth: good mouthfeel, firm structure and compact with expressive tannins, excellent harmony between power and elegance, between fruit and acidity. A long and elegant finish, mineral.
