2017 Terras de Alleu (Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz)

TASTING NOTES:

  • View: Deep garnet red with violet highlights
  • Nose: Tempting scents of soft ripe fruits, florals, and a touch of sweetness.
  • Mouth: Light and refreshing on the palate with a fruity taste. Fresh tastes of strawberry, raspberry, and apple dance into a pleasant finish.

APPELLATION: Douro

VINEYARD: Adega Vila Real. These grapes were grown in the beautiful region of Douro, Portugal. While Douro is best known worldwide for its production of port wines, the region also has an ideal climate for producing sophisticated wines from a wide array of grape varieties. The area is relatively sheltered from the chilly Atlantic Ocean because of the Marão and Montemuro mountains, creating a climate that experiences cool winters and hot, dry summers.

GRAPES: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional

AGEING: A relatively young wine aged in stainless steel tanks.

PREPARATION: The grapes are entirely hand-picked. After arriving at the vineyard, the grapes are immediately destemmed and pressed before being placed in vats for fermentation. The alcoholic fermentation took place in 18-ton stainless steel tanks that are temperature-controlled to 24ºC. The low temperature of the fermentation stage ensures soft and fruity flavours.

PAIRING: Steak, roast beef, venison, barbecue, pasta with red sauces.

RIGHT SERVING TEMPERATURE: 15°C

ALCOHOL: 13%
