Magellan Gin is named after Ferdinand Magellan, the explorer who left Spain hoping to circumnavigate the world and explore the spice islands. He may not have made it back to Spain but several barrels of cloves did. It is thanks to him and the spices he discovered that gin exists.
Handcrafted in small batches at the Angeac Distillery in France, Magellan Gin starts with the triple distillation of French wheat and demineralized spring water. This neutral spirit is put into a small artisanal copper pot along with the eleven sundried botanicals for a fourth distillation. It is here that the gin is able to infuse itself with the intricate flavour of the botanicals. These 11 botanicals include cloves, cinnamon, coriander, cardamom, iris root and flower, cassia, liquorice, juniper berries, orange peel, grains of paradise, and nutmeg. The natural blue colour of the gin comes from its infusion with natural iris root and flowers, giving the gin a beautiful hue and a crisp, unrivalled taste.
Complex, smooth, and balanced, Magellan Gin comes in a clear glass bottle which allows appreciation of the gorgeous blue colour. Is it the colour of the sea or of the clear sky? - Mouth: for the elaboration and after the fermentation of the wheat, a triple artisanal distillation is carried out, the 11 botanists (juniper, clove, iris, Ethiopian pepper, licorice, cinnamon, cardamom, orange peel, Coriander and nutmeg), and ends with a fourth distillation. His name is a tribute to Fernando de Magallanes, who circled the world in search of spices.
It is recommended to combine the Magellan Geneva with the Q Tonic tonic or combine it with the Indian Fever Tree tonic, orange peel, 3 cardamom grains, a cinnamon stick and ice.
The Geneva Magellan owes its name to Ferdinand Magellan, who in the first half of the sixteenth century was decisive for the discovery of the spices that are today part of this exclusive gin. It is not a typical gin. Juniper is not the first and definitive feature, but it is present. Cardamom, licorice, cubeb, cassia, nutmeg and orange peel are expressed in full splendor.Later coriander notes also play a key role in a complex interaction of flavors.
It is a light-bodied gin accompanied by the mixture of the floral and spicy notes that make the Geneva Magellan a gin with different strata of flavors. Nice, persistent and spicy finish.
Premium Geneva French 44.0% alc. / Vol. , Obtained by quadruple traditional batch distillation, three of the wheat grain with water, and a fourth with the botanical components incorporated, which is called 'fresh destillation'. The botanicals used are juniper, orange bark, coriander, licorice, cinnamon, cassia, nutmeg, cardamom, grains of paradise, clove and flower and iris root. The final product is clean, bluish color due to the iris flower, very balanced, light bodied, with floral aromas, spices and slightly citrus, and light taste, somewhat spicy and with slightly bitter aftertaste.
This gin is produced in France by Angeac Destillery. It is presented in a classic wine bottle of 70 cl., Transparent, screen printed with naval motifs and a portrait of Fernando de Magallanes in the neck.
