Well, approximately one-third of the 47 ingredients used to make it - hence its name - comes from the Black Forest and are not frequent ingredients in the production of these distillates. These ingredients are selected and prepared with great care and respect, using the soft spring water that flows from the source that the distillery has in the Black Forest.

To make the Monkey 47 Sloe Gin, the best are blackthorn fruits, a mythical plant relative of the plum, are chosen. Like the plum, the blackthorn has medicinal properties to fight inflammation, soothe broken stomachs and relieve ailments of the kidneys and bladder. But not only this, the blackthorn was very common during the Middle Ages; fences of this bush used to be built on the boundaries of farms and other properties to keep witches away.

We invite you to try, then, this gin that will keep you, as the phrase says, safe and sound. Pour yourself a glass of this dark potion of mythical origins; delight yourself with its complex aromas of fruit and juniper. Savor ginger slowly in each drink. Enjoy your moment knowing that nothing bad can happen to you.

- Limited stock.
- Very attractive nose with typical London Gin characters and distinct Juniper & pepper notes. Crisp, fresh & fruity on the nose and equally so in the mouth. Some tangy notes in the mouth add extra freshness to the traditional characteristics. Extremely complex full bodied.

Monkey 47 gets its unrivalled complexity and quality from its 47 handpicked plant ingredients, of which a third come from the Black Forest, such as spruce, elderflower, blackthorn, bramble leaves and fresh cranberries. Distilled in small batches, this Schwarzwald sloe gin is a true Monkey 47, but nevertheless a whole different one.
- This masterfully handcrafted and unfiltered sloe gin is unique in its complexity whilst reflecting great British traditions and the wildness of the Black Forest. The quality of ingredients is fully brought to bear through a masterful and complex distillation process involving both steam extraction and distillation of the macerate. Monkey 47 is then matured for three months in traditional earthenware containers, in which
the distillate develops greater balance as it reacts with oxygen. After maturing, the distillate is diluted with extremely soft Black Forest spring water to the drinkable strength of 47 per cent and is put through a sheet filter, but to preserve its full character it does not undergo cold-stabilisation.
