The liquor products do not contain any chemical additives; the same color comes from the plants that make them. The 130 herbs present in the recipe are macerated in a high-quality alcohol, and then distilled.
After this process is added distilled honey and sugar syrup for Jaune. Now begins the long aging in oak barrels, in the beautiful cellars at Voiron.
La Chartreuse, in 2015, will turn 410 years and in 2014 the Vert has made 250 and for this occasion a special label was created in 2014 and today already sold collectibles. Pharmacists of the sixteenth century had to find the elixir of long life and Chartreuse is considered the epitome pharmaceutical experience of that century; groups in fact all the medicinal plants (130) then known.
Entering in the cellars of the Chartreuse is going back in time: now there's no one who grows old liquors. La Chartreuse Vert and Jaune have minimum 3 years of aging in oak barrels and V.E.P. minimum 10 years, distilled in tinned copper stills centenarians.
