Description of 2018 Casa Castillo Pie Franco
2018 Casa Castillo Pie Franco (Monastrell)
- View: dark cherry with garnet rim.
- Nose: very expressive and with good complexity. Aromas of very ripe red and black fruit, almost jam, chocolate, spices, coffee, balsamic and mineral memories.
- Mouth: controlled power, tasty, with ripe fruit prevailing over toasted notes. Combination of fresh balsamic with pleasant spices. Polished tannins, long finish and great persistence.
DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN: Jumilla
VINEYARD: Pago La Solana. South and southwest facing vineyard planted in 1941. It occupies 8 hectares. Planted on sandy soil, with glacis, fine sediments accumulating from the nearby mountain.
AGING: Aged for 18 months in oak barrels.
PREPARATION: Manual harvest. Traditional fermentation with whole bunches in underground presses in the presence of native yeasts. Malolactic made in oak casks.
How to serve
In 1941 is when Don Jose Sanchez-Cerezo acquires the property Casa Castillo for the use of rosemary bush. The farm was situated a warehouse built by the French in 1870.More about the Winery
