2013 Monte Baixo Lisboa (Merlot and Touriga Franca)
- View: 2013 Monte Baixo Lisboa has an intense ruby colour.
- Nose: Deep and complex on the nose, with a bouquet charged with ripe red fruits, and black fruits, and the slightest hint of spice.
- Mouth: Well-structured and balanced on the mouth. Notes of ripe red fruits. Complex, but surprisingly fresh. The finish is long, with a marked taste of oak.
VINEYARD: Monte Baixo. From the coastal region of Lisboa, in Portugal, famous for its mild Mediterranean weather that can produce over 30 grape varieties of the finest quality. Complex wines with full bodies are the result of the classic Portuguese varieties.
GRAPES: Touriga Nacional, Touriga França, Tinta Roriz, and Tinto Cão.
PREPARATION: This wine is crafted traditionally as a blend of red national Portuguese varieties. The grapes are harvested, selected, and vinified separately. The wines are stored in large oak barrels for ageing. The result is a balanced wine with a strong oaky essence infused in the ageing stage. Strong fruity flavours and a refreshing sensation make for a perfect everyday wine to complete the dinner presentation after a long day.
PAIRING: Ideal to be served with strong courses, such as beef, pasta, veal, and poultry.
