Château Brane-Cantenac

As a living, constantly evolving product, a great wine requires attention, patience and a certain degree of experience. Since 1992, Henri Lurton has made it his aim to produce each year the best wine possible while remaining faithful to the outstanding, historic terroir of Brane. Since 1997, a new, spacious vat cellar, modern wine-making techniques and a new team have enabled him to rise to this challenge.

4 /5

The early bud burst due to a very mild and very humid winter was slowed down by a colder April and morning frosts causing some damage
In spite of a homogeneous flowering, there was a little dripping in the old merlots
July was cool and watered but August and September magnificent, thus ensuring a slow maturation
Botrytis was a concern when the cluster closed and continued despite prophylactic measures to control it
A daily observation of the plots made it possible to harvest grapes healthy and sound for both Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon but it was necessary to remain vigilant not to be overwhelmed by the gray mold
The use of pigeage, shedding and long macerations allowed to exploit to the best the richness of the tannins
A high content of sugars and phenolic compounds marked all varieties
Maturing 18 months in 70% new barrels.
