2003 Château d'Issan (Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot)
An attractive nose here, even though it carries the warm ripe confit fruit of the vintage. The soft and rounded texture is immediately apparent on the palate, with a rather appealing weight and substance, but it has a level of acidity which is on the low side. And of course there is a big wall of tannins too, leading to a hard finish. Nevertheless it all sits together reasonably well and taken within the context of the vintage I find this to be good.

Issan Margaux 2003
Ripe cherry colour, medium opacity. Cedarwood aromas. It tasted a lot like wine.
It wasn't well paired with food, but the wine was good and tasty.

Reviews about Château d'Issan 2012
Located in the commune of Cantenac, the 53 hectares of Issan extend in the heart of the appellation, just a few hundred meters from the famous Château Margaux well, which speaks volumes about the quality of its soil. The vines of the vineyard is composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot 35%.
Château d'Issan 2012 is a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, which is mature to give the wine depth and delicacy. It also offers beautiful notes of red and black fruits, on a background rather floral, with silty suspicion.
