Château DURFORT-VIVENS owes its name to the Durfort de Duras, a powerful family in the South-West of France that came to Margaux in the fourteenth century. In 1824, the Viscount of Vivens' name was added to that of Durfort. The estate was at the height of its fame: the 1844 vintage sold for more than any of the other Second Crus in the Margaux appellation.

The 2013 weather conditions have not achieved full maturity of the grapes. However, the owner of Château Dufort-Vivens: Gonzague Lurton and his team have worked hard to preserve fruit and balanced wines. Either low temperature fermentation, moderate extractions, selection of press wines.
Despite a fall of almost 40% of production, the 2013 vintage largely pulls out of play. Composed of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, this 2013 vintage is full of finesse and elegance. There is a nice freshness in the mouth, a gourmet tip. The final on it is harmonious.

Château Durfort-Vivens: rich micro-terroirs in the heart of the Margaux appellation

The 55 hectares of vineyards that have the distinction of being composed of several plots, micro-terroirs surrounded by the castle. Regarding varieties, there are 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.
As in most of the vineyards where the respect for the land is paramount, the harvest is conducted manually and the wine making is fragmented and specifies for each lot to express its flavors and fragrances. Aging lasts on average 18 months in new oak barrels between 40 and 45% depending on the year, which explains their tannic and structured side.

Château Durfort-Vivens The 2012 is a fine and silky wine, elegant and fresh, which presents a bright ruby ​​color with nice garnet highlights.
