Margaux 1964

Margaux 1964 - Red Wine - 1er Cru Classé, vintage 1964 Bordeaux. Appellation: Margaux. Chateau / Domain: MARGAUX. If it is a privilege to bear the name of its appellation, no doubt that Château Margaux there is ample justification. For several centuries this Premier Cru expresses the highest degree the quality of exceptional terroir patiently assembled by several generations of owners. Maintained and harvested exclusively by hand with extreme care, the 78 hectares of vines (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) derive their wealth deep in soil clayey gravelly particularly dense and thick. The fermentation in oak vats, after which the wine is strictly selected, follows 18 to 24 months aging in new oak barrels. A masterpiece among the claret, the best according to some, Château Margaux reveals the delicate taste and opulence, depth and complexity and develops a bouquet of rare elegance of rose, violet, black fruit, sub suspended by tight tannins that require patient aging before blossoming. . We had it with a tart. Drinking it with friends is always a pleasure.
It had a deep colour at first sight. The 2017 smells like violets. I like the slight roughness it leaves you on the mouth.

Margaux Margaux 2016
Nice red Bordeaux colour. This 2016 has a toffee aftertaste. It reminded me of black plums.
The Margaux Margaux is the ideal wine to pair it with wild boar sausages.
It was part of a wine tasting.
