Description · Château Margaux

2003 Château Margaux (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot)

An extraordinary wine and undeniably one of the great wines of the Medoc, and qualitatively a wine that towers over what other estates produced in the appellation of Margaux, the 2003 Chateau Margaux is made in a style that almost mirrors Lafite Rothschild in 2003. Last year I thought it could represent a hypothetical blend of the 1990 and 1996, but the wine has taken on even more opulence and seductiveness in an almost atypical but still fragrant, elegant, classic Chateau Margaux personality. Dense ruby/purple to the rim with an extraordinary floral nose intermixed with blackberries, cassis, mineral, licorice, and some vanilla, the wine is dense, opulent, voluptuously textured, with wonderful sweetness (reminiscent of 1982 and 1990 in that sense), low acidity, but tremendous concentration and an almost seamless integration of all components - alcohol, tannin, new wood, and acidity. This is truly sumptuous stuff that should drink reasonably well young after 4 or 5 years in the bottle and age for 30+ years. Bravo!

Château Margaux

It is difficult to sum up in a few lines the long and splendid history of the estate. It could perhaps be entitled 'There was once an estate called Château Margaux'. It was already known in the 12th century and at that time had the name 'La Mothe de Margaux' but there were not yet any vines. In...

Château Margaux 2003

Red wine of Margaux (France) Château Margaux produced by the winery with grapes Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Its combination with adequate food would be more with vegetables, cured cheeses, game birds and ground and roasted. You can drink in perfect conditions from now until 2028. We recommend decanting. It should be served at a temperature of between 12 ° C and 16 ° C in a glass of Bordeaux type for better tasting.

Château Margaux 2003

Head out among the maroon, the best according to some, Château Margaux reveals the delicate taste and opulence, depth and complexity and develops a bouquet of rare elegance of rose, violet, black fruit, underpinned by tannins tight that require patient aging before flourish

Château Margaux 2003

After extreme weather conditions of the summer, we might well have expected a warm, rich alcohol nose with ripe fruit, black, even fruit compote. However, what we actually have, literally jumping out of the cup are aromas of red berry fruit, freshness and purity. We can still find, as in 96 and 2000, a blend of floral notes and slightly spicy, reaching great to this very complex cocktail, in which new oak has been fully integrated, as if it had been suggested by the body of Wine. And what a body! We knew, of course, that all the wines were highly concentrated. Must say that when you add, a very low yield to the warm summer weather, plus the blend, which was an excellent wine press, the result is a wine that has a density that had no equal in Recent vintages. This density gives the wine not only power and strength, also depth and length; and above all, a tannic structure that is so close that its texture has taken a silky touch. Much has been said this year about the acidity and the mysteries of it. It is true that grapes have rarely been collected as low acidity levels as in 2003. And yet although the combination of acid being produced during the fermentation process, less precipitation of tartaric acid and low in malic acid, we done today with a total acidity which is exactly the average of the last twenty vintages. This vintage, with bad weather (as we thought), has given rise to a classic claret!

We had it with a tart. Drinking it with friends is always a pleasure.
It had a deep colour at first sight. The 2017 smells like violets. I like the slight roughness it leaves you on the mouth.

Margaux Margaux 2016
Nice red Bordeaux colour. This 2016 has a toffee aftertaste. It reminded me of black plums.
The Margaux Margaux is the ideal wine to pair it with wild boar sausages.
It was part of a wine tasting.

Chateau Margaux 1º Cru 2015
The best of the meal was this wine. Me and my partner, we celebrated the anniversary of our first kiss with Chateau Margaux 1º Cru.
Especially its colour pleased me . Strong scents of coffee and toffee. I noticed a raspberry flavour.

I was lucky enough to try it with a client.
Intense ruby red, high layer. Scent of violets and liquorice. Sweet taste, fruity.
I took the Château Margaux wine with grilled vegetables.
