Description of 2005 Château Rauzan Ségla

2005 Château Rauzan Ségla (Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Cabernet Franc)

An elegant fragrant bouquet, lots of taste on the palate, a well-balanced structure and very great elegance.

For this vintage we took our time and were able to be even more meticulous than usual really taking advantage of the sorting tables and competence of the people we have trained.

In 1661, Pierre de Rauzan Desmezures acquired two properties for which he gave his name: Rauzan Rauzan and Ségla Gassies. Rauzan-Ségla since 1994 belongs to the famous Chanel, which has invested heavily in the property.
The 66 hectares of vines stretch for clay and gravel soils, the Margaux terroir. The planting of the vineyard is composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, Petit Verdot 3.5% and 1.5% Cabernet Franc. Rauzan-Ségla practice sustainable farming and many other precautions contributing to the quality of Château.
The wines are aged in barrels (50% new) for 18 months.
Rauzan-Ségla 2012 is a blend of 54.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot and 1.5% Petit Verdot. Her dress is inked color, blue and purple hues. He exhales wonderful aromas of black fruit, toast on a slightly floral. The tannins are ripe for a fairly full-bodied mid-palate.

Formerly, Rauzan-Ségla formed with Château Rauzan-Gassies a single property. Rauzan-Ségla is named after Pierre Measures of Rauzan who bought it in 1661. Rauzan Ségla remained in the same family for two centuries and still belonged almost a century in Bordeaux merchants Cruse. This family continuity, a broken time, seems to be called again from the Wertheimer family (also owner of Chanel) in the acquisiton was in 1994. Meanwhile, this historic believed was quick to express his potential.

At present, Rauzan-Ségla is the wine that most approach with Chateau Margaux, the purest definition of Margaux. Through meticulous work in the winery and vineyards Rauzan Ségla is become a reference.

The 2011 vintage of Château Rauzan-Ségla has undeniable charm skillfully combining elegance and power. The nose offers a nose of black fruits. The palate is fruity, with a superb density of fat and a smooth texture. It will also retain its length worthy of the Great its appellation.Boire or keep: In 4-5 years and also until 2030
PAIRING: Red meat, stewed or grilled

Colour of glacé cherry. Characteristic nuts notes. It has a slightly salty final.
It wasn't well paired with food, but the wine was good and tasty.
A special red wine for someone just as special .
