Château Giscours

Château Giscours

The first written reference to the domain of Giscours, a deed confirming the sale of the Estate for 1,000 Pounds, dates from 1330 and refers to a fortified keep. Records of Giscours' vineyards go back to 1552. Giscour's early reputation for fine wine became increasingly apparent as time went on. A century later, Giscours charmed the palate of the "Roi Soleil" Louis the 14th, who is said to have had a particular inclination for the wine.

I opened the bottle for my best friend.
Red intense cherry colour and high layer. Special vainilla aromas. Very light and complex.
It would have been better with meat.

Mermaid Giscours, flexible and elegant Margaux.

Soft and delicate, the Mermaid Giscours is however not devoid of power.
You will find as well in the Mermaid Giscours 2013 all the ingredients of a great Margaux refinement, elegance, finesse and length on the palate tannins. It is a balanced and concentrated wine that takes its own in a 2013 vintage contrast for Margaux. ruby color, he recites beautiful fruity and woody notes. Its rich and complex aromas reminiscent of black cherry, raspberry and prune contrast elegantly with woody notes. This generous and complex Margaux is ideal with game, lamb shoulder or grilled steak. The Mermaid Giscours 2013 can be consumed immediately or you can wait 2 to 3 years to allow its aromas take their full extent. Drink or keep: 2016-2020

This is a beauty, especially for the price. Touch of quality, not too heavy and easy-drinking; lovely!

I tried it at the usual restaurant.
Cherry colour with brown edges. Nice cherry smell. Predominating aromas of red fruits.
