2014 Catena Zapata Malbec Nicasia Vineyard (Cabernet Franc and Malbec)

AGEING: 18 months in French oak barrels, followed by 24 months in bottle.PREPARATION: The grapes are harvested by hand and subjected to a soft pressing to extract the must. maceration is made in contact with the grape skins at cold temperatures, for a period of 15 days. alcoholic fermentation is carried out at cold temperatures on the lees, with the addition of selected yeasts. malolactic fermentation, followed by aging in barrels is done over 18 months. Then the wine is bottled and subjected to a process of evolution in the bottle for 24 months before being marketed.

In 1994, Nicolas and his team were confident they had identified the best lots for growing Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.
