You will like to know that…
In the 1930s, many bars and cafés in Marseille sold illegal aniseed liqueurs that were too sweet for the consumer's taste. The twenty-year-old Paul Ricard, son of a wine merchant and art lover, dreamed of creating the perfect liqueur to suit every taste: this is how Pastis Ricard 1.5L was born in 1932.
The original recipe is still a secret, but the most important natural ingredients are well known: **Star anise from faraway China, liquorice from the Middle East and herbs from Provence.
Without knowing it, Paul Ricard invented what could be considered the first French long drink. In order to enjoy Ricard 1.5L better, it is even advisable to mix 2 cl of liqueur with about 10 cl of water and add ice. À votre santé!
