2017 Château Malartic-Lagravière (Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot)

  • Nose: baked blueberries, blackberries, pencil and pastel spice, hints of chocolate box, menthol and cassis.

VINEYARD: 46 hectares of vineyards of red grapes. Well-drained soil and gravel subsoil of limestone and clay.

AGEING: traditionally aged in French oak barrels (70% new).

Château Malartic Lagravière

Domaine de Lagravière set on the oldest terroir of the Bordeaux vineyards was purchased at the end of the 18th century by the family of Maurès de Malartic. As a tribute to Hippolyte Count of Malartic who served the armies of the Kings of France the Château was named Malartic-Lagravière in 1850 by the new owner at that time, Madame Ricard.

Typical opacity of a Château Malartic Lagravière. Aromas of toffee. A slight flavour of raspberries this red.

Former estate of Malartic, Château Malartic Lagravière is named after Count Hippolyte of Malartic, famous admiral of the kings of France in the eighteenth century. The property belongs since 1996 to the Bonnie family.
The 53 hectares of this Pessac-Léognan extend over a magnificent severe croup. The grape varieties of red is made from 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
The wines are aged in oak barrels (50 to 70% new) for 15 to 22 months.
This Château Malartic Lagravière 2012 presents a purple dress. The nose offers aromas of blackcurrant and liquorice, underlined with a hint of smoke. A balanced wine, dense and in length.

Lagravière the field, has always been known for the quality of its soil, is purchased from the late eighteenth century by the family of Count Maurès Hippolyte of Malartic. The property was bought in 1850 by Mrs. Arnaud Ricard accola name Malartic than Lagravière in tribute to the former owners. Enjoying a high reputation since the beginning of last century, the castle Lagravière-Malartic is one of only six classified growths in both white and red when ranking Graves 1953. In late 1996, the castle takes a new direction with the arrival of the Bonnie family.
The Malartic Lagravière castle is located on a high terrace deeply cut by the stream of White Water and its tributaries. It consists of 8 meters deep with gravel islands dating from the Quaternary period.
The evocative name of "Lagravière" underlines the high quality soil of this vineyard, known to be located on the most beautiful gravel rump of Léognan.
