Château Pape Clément 2016

Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest Grands Crus of Bordeaux. His vineyard - the first harvests took place in 1252 - was implemented in the 12th century by Bertrand de Goth, younger of a noble family from Bordeaux region. Archbishop of Bordeaux, Bertrand de Got became Pope in 1305 under the name of Clement V. This is where the Château inherited its name from and its wine became an icon. Reconciling rich traditions and advanced techniques, the wines of Château Pape Clément are developed under the sign of the highest requirement. Through hard work, constant questioning, the alliance of tradition and innovation and outstanding terroir, the field produced in two colors exceptional wines. Located in Pessac, a few kilometers from Bordeaux, the vineyard of 63 ha covers a mixture of gravelly-sandy soils and clay-limestone soils on limestone subsoil rich in iron.

Château Pape Clément 2016

2016 a challenging vintage for a grand finale
Winter 2015-2016 is characterized by exceptionally mild temperatures (+ 2 ° C average between 01/11/2015 and 28/02/2016) and extremely high rainfall from January to March (539mm against 224mm on average)

These wet winter conditions are prolonged in spring and spring in a thermal context that is well below average
As a result, the vineyard continues to lag until the end of June
While the rainy days between the 15/05 and the 15/06 are extremely rare, the bloom miraculously unfolded during a window of a few sunny and rather hot days
It is from the 20/06 that the conditions change radically and that they are close to the seasonal averages
At the end of July the water balance indicates already a situation clearly deficit
Summer temperatures, close to multi-year averages and the water deficit, however, do not offset the delay accumulated in the spring

While the few millimeters of the 13/09 allow to perfect the maturation, the high temperatures associated with strong amplitudes thermal ensure exceptional grapes.

Very good wine. But unfortunately very bad organization of the site so your order preparation errors, address errors delivery so do not hurry to receive the bottle quickly. I do not recommend at all this website, you better find a reliable website.

Smelled soft, like cinnamon and vanilla . I left the bottle opened for a couple of days and got spoiled.
One of the wines with more character of Pessac-Léognan.

I am convinced that any meat will suit. A special red wine for someone just as special .
Cherry colour with brown edges. Good smell of coffee and toffee. This Pessac-Léognan stands out for its warm and balanced character.
