On the eve of the harvest 1997, Jean-Hubert Delon bought the Château Nénin, previously owned by his cousins, the Despujol family ever since 1847. Since the takeover, significant restructuring is undertaken. The size, trellising vines have been recovered, drained soil, the vines planted or torn, the modernized equipment. The cellars of breeding and storage were completely redesigned, enlarged and air conditioned. A new winery, equipped with the most advanced equipment, was built on top of the total transformation of the property.
The vineyard of Château Nénin runs in one piece with the exception of a single parcel. In the context of the Pomerol appellation, where it is rare that area exceeds 10 hectares, the Château Nénin is a major area: 32 hectares of vines in production. Consequently terroir includes the diversity of soils that characterizes Pomerol. It consists mainly of Oligocene deposits covered

I drank it with someone special.
As nearly all of them this one shows also a cherry colour. The aromas of coffee and toffee predominate. A Château Nénin is never a light experience.
I had it with cod and potatoes.
