Pomino Pinot Noir is a wine of surpassing elegance. Delicate fragrances of dark cherry and wild strawberry meld together with floral notes of sweet violets. This is a lovely blend of Pinot Noir and a touch of Sangiovese.

Marchesi de Frescobaldi Pomino Pinot Nero 2017

4 /5

The Pomino area proved over time a particularly suitable area for viticulture, particularly for varieties such as Pinot Noir here was equipped with unique features that are complemented by its elegance. The fermentation of Pinot Noir grapes, harvested at optimum ripeness, takes place in oak with 23 days maceration so as to ensure a perfect extraction of the phenolic component. Upon completion of malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, the wine remains in the same containers for 12 months of aging. Other four months glass allow a great quality path. The color is ruby red with some garnet reflection. The nose reveals a fruity bouquet which features black currant, reached by pleasant notes of cinnamon, ginger and juniper. In the mouth it manifests the noble elegance of Pinot Noir, supported by a indomita freshness and a velvety tannin crashing into a final long and persistent. It is the ideal accompaniment to meat stews and meat sauce. Also excellent in the company of a superb platter of cold cuts.

An explosion of fruity aromas; a prevalence of cassis and dark, ripe cherry is followed by delicate hints of chocolate. Smooth on the palate, with vibrant red berried notes, combined with hints of liquorice and intriguing notes of Mediterranean herbs such as thyme. Long and persistent on the finish.

This Marchesi di Frescobaldi wine goes well with food. It was a birthday present for my friend.
Red with violet edges. Aromas of black currant. On the palate reminiscent of leather, slightly burned vanilla.
