The Winery

Barros

Barros

The company was founded in 1913 by Manuel de Almeida with the designation "Almeida em Comandita", which exclusively dedicated itself to the Port Wine trade. In times of economical and political crisis in Europe, which expanded on a global level, many entrepreneurs lost amounts of money and went into bankrupcy. But this was not the case of Barros: His company grew and is one of the most recognized names in the industry nowadays.

16, 5 pts Revista de Vinhos - Lively ruby colour. Attractive fresh aromas of dark fruit and cherry, with touches of spices. The taste shows wild fruit, wonderfully seductive and engaging. The firm tannins are well balanced by the strength of the fruit. Intense and concentrated wine, with a remarkable structure. Overwhelming and persistent finish.

Ruby in colour. On the nose there are dark ripe fruit notes, reminiscent of plum, figs and blackcurrants. Full bodied and well balanced it has ripe berry fruit and mulberry flavours.

It would have been better if it had been cooler than it was. Our fault.
A good recommendation, no doubt.
