2014 Marqués de Murrieta Reserva (Graciano, Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Garnacha tinta and Garnacha)

TASTING NOTES of Marqués de Murrieta Reserva 2014:

  • View: deep red
  • Nose: berry flavours of cherry and plum with hints of dried fruits. Notable vanilla and liquorice fragrances.
  • Mouth: full-bodied and smooth texture with round tannins. Red fruit flavours and hints of spices.

APPELLATION: Rioja

VINEYARD: Marqués de Murrieta

GRAPES: Graciano, Mazuelo, Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta

AGING: aged for 19 months in 225 litre American oak barrels.

PREPARATION: destemming and fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 8 days at a controlled temperature. During the fermentation, we pump and punch down the grapes to ensure effective and gentle colour and aroma extraction. Afterwards, the solid parts of the grapes are pressed in vertical presses with double screws.

PAIRING: grilled hake loin; baked cod with onion and green peppers; red beans stew with pork feet and cabbage; grilled beef tenderloin, green asparagus and carrot purée; creamy and blue cheeses, red wine compote and sour cherries.

- Marqués de Murrieta Reserva: Marqués de Murrieta is a red wine reserve, made in Bodegas Marqués de Murrieta in the Rioja town of Logroño enrolled in the D. O. Q. Rioja.
- It has been aged a year and half in new and used American oak barrels and two years in bottle.
- Bodegas Marqués de Murrieta born in 1852, at the hands of Don Luciano Murrieta, first winemaker in the Rioja wine and first exported outside the country.
- It was the King Amadeo who appointed Luciano Don Marquis in gratitude for his work in the Rioja.
- He traveled to Bordeaux where he learned processing techniques applied for its wines back to Spain.
- On the estate of Ygay he established the concept of chateau, and he built the famous Castle Ygay.

- TASTE NOTE: Nice cherry color, high layer, clean and bright. It shows an elegant and fine tear. Nose high intensity, expressive and aromatic in which there is an almost perfect balance between sparkling fruit load, a ripe red fruit and at the same time and aromas provided by its passage through barrels, elegant toasted, fine spices and light touches animals. The palate is warm, intense, deep and with a great personality. the conjunction well balanced with ripe fruit wood is repeated. - The Spanish love their lamb, beef and - obviously - jamón! This is the perfect partner.
