2006 Château Ausone (Cabernet Franc and Merlot)

Half ruby red color, very bright. By analyzing the nose, aromas are pure blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, coffee and minerals. Superlatives fail to describe this wine acclaimed for over 250 years and maybe more since qu''Alain Vauthier is in control in the late 90s Château Ausone 2006 offers a beautiful ruby color and finesse on the nose hints of red fruit and delicate burnt notes. The palate is clean and elegant with fine, silky tannins and a very long finish. From old vines over 50 years, it offers an aging potential of dozens of years and will reach maturity from 2020. A legend of Saint Emilion, Château Ausone is one of four areas to have was ranked first grand cru A in the latest ranking of the wines of Saint-Emilion 2012. 1er Grand Cru Classé Catégorie A.
Noir Merlot 50%, Cabernet Franc (Bouchet) 50%.
Aged in 20 to 24 months.
Shelf life of between 15-50 years.
The wines of Château Ausone, some would still call the wines of the poet, achieved after long years of aging, a significant difference on all neighboring vineyards.

Toffee smell, followed by coffee smell. It has a good entry.
This wine is rather watery for my taste.

Chateau Ausone 2015
In a restaurant.
Subtle taste. Its aromas reminded me of white rose petals. If you like acidic wines, this one might be right for you. I loved its acidity.

Château Ausone Chateau Ausone 1Er Gr.Cr.Cl.a 2015
A red which I enjoyed with my friends.
The reddish brown edges were not very nice. Definitely the wrong colour, although it was an acceptable wine. Strong strawberries aromas. Very light, pleasent.
Best paired with other food than the one we ordered.

A good smell of flowers, mostly purple colour. I liked the Château Ausone, but it tasted a bit rough.
This 2014 has a phenomenal QPR.
