Château Larcis Ducasse

Ducasse's history dates back to Larcis eighteenth century documents of 1777 we reported the existence of the property, and also clearly indicate that he had wine on the farm. The wines were purchased by businessman Pierre Beylot Libourne, in the same family that established Chateau Peyraud. During the nineteenth century the estate was divided in two, but later reunited a few years later. The property formed a reputation for fine wines, winning a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1867, at which time he was in family hands Ducasse.

The winters are rainy, one of the most watered in 50 years
But it is soft, exceptionally soft
Less than 10 morning frosts in 3 months, and +2 to + 4 ° above average temperatures in January and February
In these conditions, spring quickly enters the scene
It's almost two weeks before the buds come out of their down
The early bud break and very early let us imagine harvests just as early
Mid-April marks a turning point, freshness sets in, the growth of the vine slows down

May, just as fresh and watered, does not reassure us
But this is June, soon summer! The first dozen, warm and dry, arrives at the right time
The flowering accelerates and finishes, beautiful and homogeneous. Then with the exception of a beautiful warm period in late July, summer will never really find its place
July and August especially are cool and humid
Regular rainfall further delayed the entry of the grapes into maturation
From a year started early, we are moving towards a rather late vintage
A lot of attention will be paid to the vineyard, the teams involved and the development of a strategy adapted to the constraints of the year to take advantage of this summer.

Combination of red fruit aromas and green pepper. I noticed some good roughness in the mouth.
It is important to serve at the proper temperature.

My partner bought it in a store.
Red ruby colour with reddish brown edges. Aromas of raisins. It tasted good to me.
