The Winery

Château Meyney

Built on a rise that lies close to the Gironde estuary, the château lies at the centre of a vineyard of one piece, covering 123 acres. In the 17 th century the property belonged to monks who were the first to plant vines at Meyney. Here the soil is composed of layers of stones and gravel that drain extremely well, providing perfect conditions for cabernet sauvignon, associated with merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot. This combination produces a full-bodied wine that has both flesh and bones, and which develops with time the unique charm of the best from Saint-Estephe.

Château Meyney 1973 has won a fan

Reviews of other vintages of 1973 Château Meyney201320122016

4/5

2013 will be remembered. This is primarily a wine vintage. Castle Meneya faced the particularly severe weather conditions this year. The hard work has focused on the quality of the bays on a rigorous selection in the vineyard and winery, using an optical sorting. However, the situation of local Meney is truly an undeniable asset. The area has not suffered the severe weather of the early summer.
This 2013 vintage is a dense wine, its tannins made with the delicious aromas of red fruits.

The Château Meyney, one of the oldest of the Medoc, is the property of CA Grands Crus.
Its 51 hectares of contiguous stretch of ridges overlooking the Gironde. The grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon and 60% Merlot and 30% Petit Verdot 10%. The plots are harvested manually.
The wines are aged in barrels (40% new) for 18 to 24 months.
This 2012 vintage has roundness and opulence. On generous notes of blackberries, it contains all the terroir of Saint-Estèphe. An elegant and silky tannic approach for a nice balance.

The raspberry aromas are quite present. Good acidity for my taste.
A good recommendation, no doubt.
