Château Cos d'Estournel 1996

Saint-Estephe has five classified growths, and the wines are products bear the mark of the soil. This clearly strengthens their character. Very powerful, they are excellent wines for aging.

Château Cos d'Estournel 1996

Château d'Estournel 1996Saint COS-EstèpheFondé in the nineteenth century by Louis Gaspard d'Estournel, Château Cos d'Estournel is full of traveler's soul of its founder. The latter was a lover of travel and so he made a few exotic touches to the masonry in tribute to his travels. The property is quickly distinguished by its quality and rises to the rand 2nd Grand Cru vineyard in 1855. It is now owned by Michel Reybier and extends over 67 hectares. Framed by the Gironde in the East and West Atlantic Ocean, it enjoys a microclimate acting as a temperature regulator. In the old Gascon, "Cos" means "hill of stones," a name justified by the geological feature of the area: serious Quaternary were piled up, forming a hill about twenty meters high on top of which the castle overlooking the river. Only grapes from vines over 20 years fall into the wine of Cos d'Estournel, the rest of the harvest is for the second wine. Practicing an essentially manual work, the field uses the new oak for breeding, what to subtly enhance the aromas with a woody right. Finally, a final selection limits the production between 200 000 and 380 000 bottles. It is a subtle and strong wine at the same time offering a particularly interesting aromatic complexity with age. The largest proportion of Merlot gives the wine richness and flexibility at a time and its aging potential is impressive.

Smells good, licorice and violet aromas. In the mouth it is thick enough.
If you like powerful wines, you already know.

Cos d'Estournel 2014
We did not choose the proper food, but the wine was good. Brought by a friend and I opened it with him.
Cherry red. Aromas of dried fruits. I left the bottle opened for a couple of days and got spoiled.

Château Cos d Estournel 2013
Cherry blossom colour, very opaque. In the nose, red fruit and green pepper. The main flavour is coffee.
A red that suits good with moussaka.
I drank it with a business client.
