Château Cos d'Estournel 2001

Wine Château Cos d'Estournel 2001Un red wine with silky and velvety Saint-Estèphe Château Cos d'Estournel is a raw second product classified in the appellation of Saint-Estèphe. It 'super second' has a rich soil composed severe granting him great aristocratic and exotic personality. The assembly of the 2000 vintage is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot 45%. At the tasting, the Cos d'Estournel 2001 first showed in his youth a great power and a wooded important. Now aromas took round and channeled their nervousness. A pleasant wine, silky and velvety to the final with a magnificent length. Field Château Cos d'Estournel created by an original that was dubbed the 'Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe' because of his taste for wines 'return from India', Château Cos d'Estournel is one of the greatest wines of Bordeaux. It is part of the "Super Seconds", a category including some Second Classified Growths of Médoc who managed to raise their standards to a kind of intermediate level between Second and First Growth. The founder of the raw Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel, was dubbed "the Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe" not because it was exporting wine to India - it was nothing special; reading the time of the English literature shows that India consumed large quantities of wine Bordeaux-but because he had first thought of selling wines "return of the Indies", ie being went in barrels to Bombay or Calcutta before returning to Europe. This singular gentleman, who shaped the Cos we know today, died bankrupt in 1853, two years before the classification of Bordeaux wines of 1855 placing Cos d'Estournel at the top of the Saint-Estèphe. Cos d'Estournel is now owned by Michel Reybier. End of 2012, Aymeric de Gironde takes over from Jean-Guillaume Prats to direct ownership

Smells good, licorice and violet aromas. In the mouth it is thick enough.
If you like powerful wines, you already know.

Cos d'Estournel 2014
We did not choose the proper food, but the wine was good. Brought by a friend and I opened it with him.
Cherry red. Aromas of dried fruits. I left the bottle opened for a couple of days and got spoiled.

Château Cos d Estournel 2013
Cherry blossom colour, very opaque. In the nose, red fruit and green pepper. The main flavour is coffee.
A red that suits good with moussaka.
I drank it with a business client.
