Château Montrose which overlooks the river, covers 95 hectares on a single farm which provides best wines of its category. As the vineyard is borded by a river and therefore provides excellent conditions for the winegrowing. Furthermore it is based on a soil composed of gravel and deep slopes.

The year 2012 is punctuated by the whims of time
The winter is dry
It begins with a very dry period over the first three months of the year
Temperatures in January are very mild, those in February are particularly cold
Spring is rainy
Fresh, moist climatic conditions slow the growth of the vine
The flowering is slow and spread over the first three weeks of June, causing a certain heterogeneity on the vines
The work of the vine growers on the vineyard will make it possible to put the vine in the best conditions for the evolution of the grapes
At the end of July the summer finally settles
The month of August is particularly sunny and very dry with several very hot days
Mid-véraison is a little late, around 17 August

This beautiful weather continues in September, causing fears of a blockage in the maturity of the berries
The expected rain finally arrives on September 22nd
The ripening cycle is relaunched and it is with the utmost attention that everyone watches over the slow and gentle process until the end of the season
The unevenness of the maturity of the grapes in the plots will lead to a particularly precise and careful cutting of each plot at the time of picking
The harvest begins on 24 September with Merlot
The Cabernet-Sauvignon will only be harvested from the 13th of October, serenely and with complete maturity until the 20th, without any degradation of the health status of the grapes and despite the rainy episodes

The berries are very ripe, the musts are of great richness, with a very nice fruit and a very intense coloring matter
The maceration is exceptionally long, 26 to 28 days, the very thick films of Merlot and Cabernet asking for more time to extract the quintessence of this vintage
At the cost of many efforts and a certain risk taking in the course of the harvest, 2012 is one of the excellent vintages of the property of recent years.
