La Dame de Montrose 1988

For the year.
The Chateau Montrose, St Estèphe ranked second grand cru classé covers an area of 94 hectares planted with cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and a fear of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The lady of Montrose is the second wine of Chateau Montrose. The 1988 vintage is a classic vintage with a benefit on the right bank. Some pomerols and Saint Emilion outshine their younger 1989 and 1990 by their elegance. The red wines are very tannic, very colorful, very complex. These are long aging wines that can be expected during their aging a fine and powerful bouquet.

On the nose, red fruit and green pepper. The main flavour is coffee.
It is a very recommendable Saint-Estèphe.

The tobacco smell was strong. Not a singularity to highlight, the wine was fine.
This wine was a real pleasure.

It has a strong smell of caramel. The flavours of La Dame de Montrose were quite well compensated.
A good value for money.
