Description of 2016 La Dame de Montrose

2016 La Dame de Montrose (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot)

TASTING NOTES:

  • View: bright ruby ​​red color with purple hues.
  • Nose: elegant, with hints of cassis, wet earth, truffles, cherries and chocolate.
  • Mouth: fresh and delicate, with soft notes of ripe red fruit flavor, smoked wood and chocolate.

APPELLATION: Saint-Estèphe (Bordeaux, France).VINEYARD: Château Montrose.GRAPES: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.

AGEING: Matures in oak barrels for a period of between 14 and 18 months.PREPARATION: The grapes are harvested by hand, and then be pressed gently to cold and macerated fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures for 15 days.

Château Montrose which overlooks the river, covers 95 hectares on a single farm which provides best wines of its category. As the vineyard is borded by a river and therefore provides excellent conditions for the winegrowing. Furthermore it is based on a soil composed of gravel and deep slopes.

The 2016 is a blend of La Dame de Montrose to 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot 52%, 2% and 11%, Cabernet Franc Petit Verdot. La Dame is the 2nd wine of Chateau Montrose and it has a perfumed, floral and pure bouquet of black cherries, blueberries and violets, the palate the wine is well balanced with a more opulent texture compared to his fellow Saint Estèphes thanks lush Merlot which forms the core of this wine. It is laudable energy and is already very approachable.

It has a strong smell of caramel. The flavours of La Dame de Montrose were quite well compensated.
