Description of Camino Real Tequila

Camino Real Tequila

TASTING NOTES:

  • Colour: Camino Real Tequila has a transparent appearance.
  • Aroma: Sweet agave and subtle earthen, floral, fruit, and spice notes.
  • Taste: Silky smooth with blue agave flavours and just an echo of molasses, a pure expression of the true tequila.

PRODUCER: Camino Real has over 70 years of experience crafting excellent tequilas. It continues to use more traditional techniques that some larger producers have abandoned in favour of scale. Its blue Weber agave plants are grown at 2000 metres above sea-level, hence the company and product name Camino, meaning ‘high'.

COUNTRY: Mexico

PRODUCTION DETAILS: Hand-selected and hand-harvested agave plants are halved and the bitter core removed, before placement in brick ovens for eight hours a day of roasting for three days running. It is in the ovens that the agave release most of their sweet juices, although they are squeezed and rinsed once out, to ensure every drop of their goodness is used. The resulting spirit is then fermented and double-distilled. You could of course enjoy Camino Real Tequila as a shot with salt and lime, or in a cocktail, but why not try a truly Mexican experience and have a Bandera? Named for the Mexican flag, it is three shots in a row, green being lime juice, then tequila blanco for white, and sangrita being red. Andale!
