This Casal Mendes Rosé with the DO Vinho Verde designation of origin comes from the Portuguese winery Aliança and is made from Baga grapes. Its splendid pink colour alone inspires the water to flow into the mouth. Aliança was founded in 1927 by eleven winegrowers in the Region Bairrada on the central coast of the country south of Oporto. Aliança wines include Quinta dos Quatro Ventos, Quinta da Garrida, Quinta da Terrugem and Quinta das Baceladas.
The eleven winegrowers demonstrated great entrepreneurial skill, initially concentrating on exporting their wines to Brazil, Africa and Europe, where today more than half of their customers are located. In addition to wines, they also produce sparkling wine and brandy, which is available not only on the domestic market in Portugal, but also in the company's export countries. Aliança is present in the main wine regions of the country and has several estates of around 600 hectares in regions such as Alentejo, Douro, Dão, Bairradas. Aliança has received several national and international awards and was named one of the 20 best wine companies in the world in 2005 by Wine Spectator.
In 2007, José Berardo acquired a majority stake in Aliança and integrated the company into the Bacalhôa Group and Caves Aliança S.A. Aliança Vinhos de Portugal. S.A. A visit to the region is very interesting for wine tourists. Aliança has developed a wine route along which visitors can get to know wineries.

How to serve
Aliança was founded in 1927 under Domingos Silva and Ângelo Neves' leadership. The winery is located in Sangalhos, Anadia county, in the Bairrada region (between Coimbra and Porto). Characteristic of the region is the Atlantic ocean proximity and the ensuing maritime winds blowing the on the flatland and the regular rainfall. This does not prevent the local cellars to elaborate great wines in Portugal's most prominent wine region.More about the Winery
