2013 Melior 3 (Tempranillo and Tinta de Toro)
- View: The 2013 Melior 3 has dark and intense purple color.
- Nose: Aromas of red and black fruit accompanied by balsamic and spicy notes.
- Mouth: Round body, sweet tannins and well structured.
APPELLATION: VT Castilla y León
VINEYARD: Bodega Matarromera. The variety "tempranillo" comes from vineyards located in Pago Pago de Valdevaniego and the Costanas, while the variety "Tinta de Toro" comes from vineyards located in Pago de La Calera. The vineyards are aged between 15 and 50 years and reach an altitude between 600 and 900 m.s.n.m. A climatological level, 2013 presented a spring with lower temperatures than usual and autumn rains threatening forward the harvesting of the grapes. The soil is characterized as sandy, chalky and frank providing sufficient nutrients and minerals to the vine.
GRAPES: Tempranillo and Tinta de Toro
AGING: Aged in French and American oak for 12 months.
PREPARATION: The harvest is done manually with double selection in vineyard and cellar. They are then partially destemmed and gently pressed. The fermentation is carried out at controlled temperature. a first raising each variety is done separately in American oak barrels from the forests of Missouri and once the wines are assembled, the ends Allié French oak aging.
WINE PAIRING: Red meats, roasts and game dishes.
