Kahlua Hot Cocoa

It’s time to grab some blankets and stoke up the fire – with its short days and frosty nights, December will bring some of the coldest weather of the year. Warm up your guests with this toasty beverage, which feels just like a warm and friendly hug.

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 shot Kahlua liqueur
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 scoops instant cocoa powder
  • One pinch each cinnamon and ground nutmeg

  • Heat the sugar, cocoa powder, nutmeg and cinnamon in a saucepan over low heat.
  • Slowly whisk in the milk and stir until heated through.
  • Pour into a mug and stir in a shot of Kahlua liqueur.

If you really want to embrace the season of indulgence, top off your tipple with a dash of whipped cream, some miniature marshmallows, and a lashing of chocolate syrup.

Vegan Eggnog

With a record number of us going vegan every year, it’s clear that we’re more concerned about sustainability than ever before. The good news is, there’s no need to compromise when it comes to holiday drinks! Here’s a modern, eco-friendly twist on a celebrated classic: Vegan Eggnog.

  • 1 shot Havana Club rum
  • One pinch each cinnamon and ground nutmeg
  • 3 oz. coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 oz. raw cashews

  • Soak the dried cashews for one hour in the coconut milk with the spices.
  • Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until creamy.
  • Serve chilled over ice.

We love the contrast of the sweet and creamy coconut milk and dark rum, but make sure to try this poured over a variety of spirits. Bourbon, brandy, and cognac are all trendy bases for eggnog this year.

Cranberry Fizz

The cranberry is synonymous with the holiday season, and what better way to enjoy it than stirred into one of the trendiest spirits of 2018? This refreshing cocktail is an excellent aperitif to serve before the big feast.

  • 1 shot Beefeater gin
  • 1 shot orange liqueur
  • 2 oz. cranberry juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 oz. ginger ale

  • Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake well.
  • Pour into a large glass mug and serve over ice.

If you’re in the mood for something sweeter, why not substitute gin for flavored vodka? Keep with the berry theme and add a splash of Absolut Raspberri or stay simple with an ice-cold shot of unflavored vodka.

This December has a mix of trends, but we hope that this selection of festive spirits is enough to get you and your guests into a festive mood this year!
