Description of 2007 Bruichladdich Islay Barley Rockside Farm

2007 Bruichladdich Islay Barley Rockside Farm

  • Color: 2007 Bruichladdich Islay Barley is warm honey color
  • Scent: The floral notes of heather covered moors in full bloom and more than a hint of juniper, hawthorn and mountain thyme. Then the beautiful aroma of ripe berry fruit, green grapes, melon, pear and pineapple all sprinkled with cinnamon.
  • Taste: The sweetness is not overwhelming, leaving, for me, a lot of very tight flavors that just need time to shred. Vegetative. Fat, but not too thick.

DEVELOPMENT DETAILS: Made from barley grown in Rockside Farm, Islay, in 2006 and was distilled in 2007 specially selected grain, slow distillation and barrels were carefully considered vital in the creation of this iconic single malt.

Bruichladdich Distillery

Bruichladdich Distillery

Bruichladdich is situated on the Western Isles – Oirthir Gaidheal, the Coast of the Gaels, the land of the outsider. The raw ingredients are paramount. 100% Scottish barley is used as they believe it's called "Scotch" for a reason. It is the mayor distiller of organic barley in Scotland and they have been instrumental in support for organic farming in the single malt category. The water comes from farmer and friend James Brown’s Octomore farm up on the hill behind the Port Charlotte warehouse as they believe in community.

4 /5

Harvested in 2006 and distilled in 2007, the grain for this iconic whisky was grown for Bruichladdich in the Minister's Field at Rockside Farm by Mark and Rohaise French.
A painfully slow distillation to gently coax the delicate oils and flavour compounds from the barley, coupled with casks carefully selected to preserve those flavours, has resulted in a whisky of exceptional complexity.
